KARUMA HYDRO POWER PLANT

The 600Mw Karuma HPP located on the Nile River in Kiryandongo District in mid-northern Uganda.
Largest power-generating installation in Uganda.
Technical specifications- comprises of a roller compacted concrete gravity dam, that measures 20 metres (66 ft) high and 312 metres (1,024 ft) long, six water intake towers each measuring 20 metres (66 ft) high and 29 metres (95 ft) wide , an underground chamber housing the six vertical Francis turbines of 100MW each measures 200 metres (656 ft) long, 21.3 metres (70 ft) wide, and 53 metres (174 ft) high.

BUGOYE HYDRO POWER PLANT

Project facts
Bugoye is a 13 MW (17,000 hp) mini hydroelectric power station in Kasese district, Uganda.
The powerhouse accommodates two units generating 84 GWh in average annual production.
A 6.5km long 33 kV transmission line evacuates the power from the hydropower plant to the national grid at the Nkenda substation.
Client is Trønderenergi AS
The estimated costs for the dam and power plant is approximately US$35 million.

The Gautrain, based in Gauteng province, is the first high-speed train to operate in South Africa as well as on the African continent.
The 80km Gautrain rail line included the construction of 15km of tunnelling and a number of viaducts, stations, depots, and parking bays.
The Client is Bombela Concession Company.

RUFFJI HYDRO POWER PROJECT

The 2,100MW Rufiji hydropower project was built on the Rufiji River in Stielger’s Gorge, Selous Game Reserve of Tanzania.
The Rufiji hydro power project includes the construction of a roller compacted concrete (RCC) dam on the Rufiji River. The dam is 134m-tall and have a storage capacity 34 million cubic metres (Mcm) of water.
The reservoir is 100km-long and 1,350km² in area, while the earth embankment will be 3.7Mcm.
Its $2.9 billions project value.
The Client is Tanzania Electric Supply Company Limited (TANESCO).

Z-Morh Tunnel is a road tunnel project in India.
The project includes a 14.15-km tunnel, an 18-km approach road between Z-Morh and Zoji-La tunnel as a single integrated package, besides carriageway, two snow galleries, four major bridges and 18 avalanche-protection dams.

BLINKPAN MINE

Blinkpan mine is based in Mpumalanga, South Africa, and is a long established coal mine. We provided the services of high wall support to 40 m high walls and decline shaft. Total area of support work was 23000 m2.
Methods of support used:

Access was gained by high access lifts and rope access.

CHENNAI – NASHRI TUNNEL

The Chennai-Nashri tunnel is a single-tube bi-directional tunnel, with a 9.35-metre carriageway, vertical clearance of 5 metres, and a parallel escape tunnel with cross passages connecting to the main tunnel.
The 9.00 km Chennai-Nashri tunnel, India’s longest and safest tunnel
The project involved an investment of Rs47bn ($724m).
The Client is Leighton India Contractors Pvt. Ltd/ National Highway Authority of India (NHAI).
Services offered
Construction of the Patnitop Tunnel (18 x 16m diameter) and the parallel escape tunnel (8 x 10m diameter).
The excavation of the main tunnel was carried out simultaneously from both portals by conventional Drill & Blast method, with adjoining adtits at every 300m intervals.
